Does it bother anybody that Linden Pointe on the Lateral, a large office and retail development on the former Globe-Wernicke site in Norwood, has yet to sign a tenant?
The Enquirer reports that the $16 million first phase of Neyer's project is supposed to be finished by the end of this month.
The site enjoys fantastic highway access and visibility. Is the I-71 corridor seeing too much spec office development, or are firms being a little timid in the current uncertain economic climate?
The Citizens for a Better Norwood blog posted about this article yesterday. I would have expected some comments by now, but so far there haven't been any.

Well most people want to live where they work and Norwood has no safe neighborhoods to live in. The city is so focused on bringing in businesses the have forgotten the cinizens who live here. The city is full on rotting abandoned houses, drug, theft, and assult crimes. The only street repairs and going on around the new businesses being built. I have lived here all my life and raised three children here and I am moving.

OK, maybe I've just been lucky, but I moved to Norwood 11 years ago. I have lived in three different houses in three different parts of the city. I do not feel unsafe living here. I have a son who has gone to Norwood elementary schools and the schools he has gone to are fantastic. Sure, the city can use a lot of work, but that's no reason to abandon it. Hopefully Linden Pointe and the other developments will bring people in with more money who will upgrade the housing. I lived outside of Norwood for 45 years, in the "better" neighborhoods and I think that Norwood has gotten a bad rap. There are a lot of good people living here that need someone to help bring them all together.
^ Yeah, I dispute the "no safe neighborhoods" comment too.
