Dumbest opinion piece ever

I thought I had already read the dumbest comments on the Banks in Cincinnati.com's comments section, until I read this opinion piece by J. Michael Skaggs in Sunday's Enquirer.

If this was an attempt at satire, then...THUD.

Mr. Skaggs, your anti-City bias clearly shows, and in my opinion it is this kind of attitude that is the #1 thing holding back our region.

Wow, that's a clunky attempt at humor. "Here are two things I read about on the same day - what if they were combined? It would be HILARIOUS!"

I don't even think he necessarily has an "anti-City bias" - he just thinks making fun of Cincinnati is something the cool kids are doing.

Neither of you comprehends satire.

How unfortunate.

Couldn't agree with you more. I picked up a copy of this Sunday's Enquirer at the local UDF and when I read this I wished I could've taken it back for a refund. Opinion pieces like this one (not funny in any way) are one of the reasons I refuse to subscribe to that silly paper. Such a waste of ink.

WTF?
I feel a tiny bit dumber after reading that.
Another example of why I refuse to buy the Enquirer.
Satire should be left to trained professionals.

Wow, Dean, thanks for insulting us.

You know, I "get" satire. I just think this was a very poor attempt at it.

The fact that the Enquirer would publish this bothers me as well.

But if it was satire, what was it satirizing? Bush? Cincinnati? The Banks? CIA interrogators?

To be satire it has to have a point. And that piece was pretty pointless.

Kevin, great site.

Don't worry about the "Dean of Cincinnati boy-bands," he's still a little upset over the fact that his singing "room-mate" didn't get elected to city council.

Those two (or maybe Jeffre is the Dean) have got to be the biggest idiots living in Cincinnati. You know it's bad when Nick Lachay was the SMART one in the group.
