Council approves Deupree rezoning

City Council unanimously approved a rezoning to allow senior cottages to the added to the Deupree House campus in Oakley.

The 2.4-acre site at 3999 Erie Avenue was previously occupied by a warehouse and was zoned for manufacturing uses.

Episcopal Retirement Homes, which operates the Deupree House, plans to build two single-story cottages, which required a zoning change to residential multi-family.

The cottages will total 10,000 square feet and each will house around 12 residents.

Thirteen caregivers will staff the facility around the clock.

The Deupree House recently completed 60 new apartments and a wellness center on its campus, bringing its total number of apartments units to 142.
