The New York Times features this photo slideshow of suburban "visual pollution" and the loss of a sense of place.
The slideshow is narrated by Kevin Fry, president of Scenic America, a non-profit advocacy group dedicated to enhancing the visual character of America's communities and countryside.
"Once you've lost your connection to a place there's no reason to care about it any more," Fry says.
The slideshow is approximately three minutes long.

Great slideshow. I thought I saw pictures of Colerain Ave. in there? Or was it Beechmont Ave? Or was it Dixie Hwy?
LOL...it was Glenway....
To paraphrase his last sentence:
Change will come when the people open their eyes and see the ugliness around them and see that change is inevitable, but this version of our environment is not inevitable.
My eyes were opened when I first started visiting truly beautiful urban places.
