Fort Scott photo update, 8/26/08

Only two homes are under construction at the massive Fort Scott subdivision in Crosby Township, with dozens of lots remaining in Phase 1.

Developed by Fort Scott Community, LLC on the former Fort Scott camp grounds, the $200 million project will include 400 single-family homes, 550 condominiums, and 19 one-story commercial sites.

Builders include Douglas Homes, Jack H. Wieland Builders, Inc., and Drees Homes.

A 4,200-square-foot clubhouse is also under construction, which will feature meeting rooms, a fitness room, bathrooms and shower facilities for the pools, playground, tennis and basketball courts that will be located outside.

The Villas at Fort Scott, being built by Douglas Homes, include stacked and ranch condominiums.

If it ever fills up, the development will double the township's population.

Those monument signs sure are nice though.

Couldn't they rehab existing properties instead? Good grief -- those (2) homes are incredibly b-o-r-i-n-g.

It would be nice if developers would think outside "the box" once in a while.

Do they even hire architects anymore?

What a waste of resources.
Slums of the future.

It was a weird place to be. Just an uneasy experience.
