Update on the future of Building Cincinnati

Readers,

I just wanted to give you a quick update on the status of Building Cincinnati and to make you aware that I've been using my time fruitfully.

I have been in several meetings with people who have offered assistance, and I'd like to believe that I'm on the path to saving the website. There are still issues that need to be worked out, but I'm optimistic.

To those of you who have offered donations through PayPal, they are very much appreciated. If I haven't thanked you personally, I'd like to say a big "thank you" here. Your contributions will be put to good use, I assure you.

Thank you also to the many people who called, e-mailed, tweeted, and offered such kind words on Facebook and LinkedIn. Your support has fed my desire to keep this site up and running.

On an unrelated note, I've been tweaking the look of the page to update it. It's still a work in progress, but I'm trying to make it a little less stale and better integrate it with social media. Please let me know if you like it, hate it, or are indifferent.

My goal now...have things in place to resume publication on March 1. I'll do my best to make that happen!

Good luck with everything, and as always, let me know if there is anything I can do to help along the way.

BTW, I like the social media additions on the right sidebar. They work well with the overall design you have going and are not a distraction.

The white type on black background is tough on the eyes. Maybe just the center section could be the standard black on white and keeps the edges the same.

I have visual impairment and can't read light on black background either. But I like the layout and sidebar is informative but not overly cluttered.

I also wish I knew your secret for the twitter widget to fit! It cut off the words on mine so I went to some lame basic text Twitter. Yours has that nice scrolly bar thingie. :)

Good luck to you.

Sophia,

I'll keep your concerns about the colors in mind as I redesign.

As far as the Twitter widget, I just added it as is from the Twitter site (where it lets you design and tells you how to add the widget to your blog). When it's in your sidebar, you can edit it like you do any other widget...look for the code to adjust height and width. Make sure you adjust it to be smaller than the width of your sidebar, or words will get cut off.

If you want the scrollbar, look in the code under:

features: {

the next line should be "scrollbar". Make sure that reads "true" instead of "false".
