Wrecking Cincinnati: 3712 Mead Ave

NEIGHBORHOOD: East End
YEAR BUILT: 1894
USE: Two-family dwelling
OWNER: Stephen H. Fleming
ASSESSED VALUE: $61,850
HAZARD: September 2010, with a damaged roof and missing siding added. Criminal case has not progressed.
CONDEMNED: August 2008, with another new owner. Foundation walls were deteriorated and collapsing, exterior walls and headers were rotten, windows were broken or missing, mechanical systems were missing or vandalized, and the lot was covered with trash. Reissued to ANOTHER owner, Fleming, in April 2009 following an auction. Later that year, Fleming promised repairs, saying he was working on putting together financing for the building's rehabilitation. Some work was done, but, in April 2010, a criminal case was filed.
ORDERS: February 2004, ordered vacated and barricaded for trash, siding, cornice, gutters and downspouts, and a rotted garage. Six months later and following foreclosure, reissued with lack of smoke detectors and protective paint added. New owners came on a month later and closed out orders by April 2005. Ordered vacated again in January 2007 due to a tenant living with no electricity. Building remained vacant and open.
REASON RAZED: Declared a public nuisance and entered into the City's hazard abatement program.
