Cincinnati to issue bonds for capital projects

Cincinnati City Council voted unanimously to approve the issuance of bonds for capital improvement projects including streets, parks, and public buildings.

At its February 13 meeting, Council authorized the Director of Finance to issue bonds for the following:

* $9.65 million for street improvements, to be serviced by lease payments from the Cincinnati Southern Railway
* $5.32 million for public buildings and facilities, to be serviced by property tax and income tax revenue
* $4.96 million for park and recreation improvements, to be serviced by property tax revenue
* $4.12 million for recreation improvements, to be serviced by lease payments from the Cincinnati Southern Railway
* $3.48 million for park improvements, to be serviced by lease payments from the Cincinnati Southern Railway

These funds will be used to pay for projects specifically mentioned in the City's 2008 Capital Improvement Program.
