Avondale land rezoned

Cincinnati City Council has approved unanimously a zoning change for a 2.1-acre parcel in Avondale.

The zoning change at , from IR Institutional-Residential to CC-A Commercial Community Auto-oriented District, is expected to make the land more attractive to developers.

BMF Pediatric Care wants to sell the site and use the proceeds to continue its mission at its other locations in Over-the-Rhine, Norwood, and Harrison.

Several developers have expressed interest in a rezoned site, which will likely become a fast-food restaurant.

BMF had tried unsuccessfully to market the land under its former zoning classification to other local institutions such as co-tenant Tri-Health, the Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.

The existing 16,000-square-foot office building, built in 1973, would be demolished.
