Ludlow Avenue streetscape begins

A project to improve the appearance of Clifton's Ludlow Avenue begins this week.

The $1.8 million project, which will occur , will include:

* Curbs and decorative sidewalks
* Street trees
* Gas lamps and streetlights
* Street furniture
* A new gathering space and kiosk at Telford Avenue

A new plaza is also planned at the former Bender Optical site, providing better connectivity between Ludlow Avenue and the Merchants' Lot.

The project is a joint venture between Clifton Town Meeting and the Clifton Business & Professional Association, with funding provided by the City of Cincinnati.

Traffic will be maintained at all times.

You can find renderings and information regarding the plaza where Bender Optical once stood here:

Thanks Kevin.

My immediate thought when looking at the plaza rendering was the Purple People Bridge also - with an, "oh no". Hopefully, when it's all done it will reflect the old charm that Clifton is noted for and has so much of. It may be the catalyst for other great changes and refinements over time. I know the budget was tight to start with. Just the fact that it is actually happening is quite a feat - looking forward to it. .
