Seven NBDSF requests submitted for 2Q2008

Seven Neighborhood Business District Support Fund (NBDSF) requests for the first quarter of 2008 have been submitted to Cincinnati City Council by City Manager Milton Dohoney Jr.

The requests are for the following:

* Avondale Business Association: $9,000 for business promotion and recruitment through a seminar at US Bank's Avondale branch, gardens and planters throughout the community, a business and health summer fair, health and leisure promotions for older adults, a redesigned website, and computer equipment for the business association.

* College Hill: $9,000 for brochures listing all of the businesses in the business district, media advertising of the neighborhood business district, a dedicated professional to manage all of the neighborhood's Cincinnati Neighborhood Business Districts United (CNBDU) funded projects, payment of CNBDU dues, maintenance of planters and trees along Hamilton Avenue, holiday garland and wreaths for Hamilton Avenue, and College Hill Business Association envelopes and postcards.

* Hyde Park Square Business Association: $9,000 for media promotion of the Summer Sidewalk Sale, Ice Cream Social, Picnic in the Park and Firehouse Day.

* Mount Adams Business Guild: $9,000 for a locator map for the business district, beautification, and an improved website.

* Northside: $9,000 for the Northside Rock and Roll Carnival, a market manager for the Northside Farmer's Market, a "Billy Goat" power vac, press releases and new brochures, marketing of the business district through Northside Now, publicity for the Northside Holiday Fair, funding for the Earn and Learn program, and planting materials for the maintenance of pots and flower beds.

* Central Vine Street Business Association: $5,100 for monetary support of Meiner Flats, beautification materials and flower boxes for several businesses, marketing through newspaper and Fountain Square video, and CNBDU dues.

* Carthage: $2955.25 for maintenance of the business district's flower pots and a business directory to be distributed to members of the Carthage Civic League.

The NBDSF, which is budgeted through the City's Department of Community Development, provides up to $10,000 for general improvement projects to each of 34 recognized neighborhood business districts.

The program is administered through Invest in Neighborhoods, Inc. and submissions are collected on a quarterly basis.
