Bidders for $32M Sharonville CC expansion to meet today

The City of Sharonville will hold a pre-bid meeting at 10 A.M. today for 13 contracts related to the $32 million Sharonville Convention Center expansion, 11355 Chester Road.

The contracts, ranging from concrete and steel work to HVAC and finishes, represent approximately $22 million of the project cost.

The project is tax exempt and requires each contractor to participate in the Super Jobs program. The Small Business Enterprise (SBE) goal for the project is 20 percent.

Sealed bids will be opened and read on May 4 at 2 P.M.

Ground was broken last November for the expansion, which will increase the size of the center from 28,000 square feet and eight rooms to 65,000 square feet and 19 rooms – including a new exhibit hall, meeting space, ballroom, and veranda. Completion of the first phase is scheduled for June 2011, with a grand opening planned in March 2012.

Project designer CDS Associates, Inc. and construction manager Megen Construction Company are pursuing LEED Silver certification through the U.S. Green Building Council.

In operation since 1994, the Sharonville Convention Center attracts more than 200,000 visitors annually.
